    for our May Zoom Meeting. Janet keeps our meetings organized
    and running smoothly. Members sent in photos of their projects
    to Janet Webster before the meeting and she shared them to the
    screen for all to see. We had a brief general meeting before
    our program and then Show & Tell. Our speaker was LQG Member
    Sue Wilson who gave a presentation on Paper Piecing. Sue will
    also be teaching this presentation as a class at CS Threadz.

    Wait for Spring" challenge projects. In addition to the
    quilt being about Spring, the challenge required that the quilt
    maker use her birthstone color in the quilt. We also had Show

    of finished charity items we make and donate. Some attending

    Zoom Slideshow. The subject of our January program was "Scrap
    Batting." This was a Zoom lecture led by BJ Jensen, our
    Program Chair. Some of the ideas were collected from fellow quilters,
    Pinterest and from past round robins. It was our first Zoom meeting
    and we had a total of 42 attendees. Some attending members showed
    quilts they have recently completed. The slideshow was made from

    Sew-in and 30th Anniversary CelebrationFebruary
    Slideshow. This was our annual charity sew-in for making
    bears. We also celebrated our guild's 30th Anniversary. Our current
    president, Sue Whitney, invited all the past presidents to join
    us. Following cake we had Show and Tell. There was no Bee of

    Meeting and Chubby Charmer WorkshopJanuary
    Slideshow. We had an all-day workshop taught by Sue Wilson.
    She taught members how to make a Chubby Charmer Tote. At 1pm

    LuncheonLuncheon
    Slideshow. Our Holiday Luncheon was held at Westlake Country
    Club on December 10th. We viewed and voted on the 2019 Challenge
    Entries. The challenge was to make a holiday themed wall hanging.
    After lunch new board members were inducted and new and old officers
    were honored as were committee chairs. Also the winners of the

    Slideshow. The slideshow only contains photos of the Bee
    of the Month display, as this was our annual business meeting.
    The Bee of the Month display was Kept in Stitches as they were
    unable to display in October due to a power outage. There was

    Slideshow. Each member was asked to bring in a favorite quilting
    tool to show to the members. The featured bee was Kept in Stitches.
    The program was followed by Show & Tell. This meeting was
    a bit unique in that those who came around 12 noon arrived during
    an electrical outage. They were told the electricity would not
    be restored until 4pm and went home. So we did not have a "full
    house" and Sue Whitney led the meeting. Unfortunately most
    of the Kept in Stitches members were among those that left, taking
    their display items with them. Hopefully, we will find a new

    moved from table to table to learn about projects they could
    make for gifts. Our instructors were members of the guild. The

    Slideshow. T Carter presented a lecture entitled "History
    outside the Box." Through memory quilts T Carter showed
    us the story of her family's immigration to the US from Dreispitz,
    Russia, and life on their farm in Minnesota. The program was

    Due to Vacation Bible School May 2019 General MeetingMay
    Slideshow. Our guest speaker and workshop leader was Jill
    Jensen from Lynchburg, VA. Jill creates art quilts by combining
    painting and printmaking techniques on white fabric. In the workshop
    each student created a small printing plate and learned how to
    print on fabric. The The Bee of the Month was Southside Bee.

    Slideshow. This month from 9am-3pm we held a "Quilts
    of Valor Block Workshop." The finished block size was 13".
    The blocks will be trimmed down and assembled into quilts at
    a later date. The Bee of the Month was Shady Ladies. A big thank

    presented an innovative and thought provoking trunk show. Her
    use of color and design was astonishing. She taught an all-day
    workshop on Monday entitled "Sonja's Windows." There

    Charity Sew-inFebruary
    Slideshow. From 9am-3pm members worked on charity items.
    The main focus was on Teddy bears. It was also the Guild's 29th
    Birthday! We celebrated our Founders' Day with a beautiful cake.
    At noon many members paused in bear making to attend the Beginners'
    Class. At the end of the day 156 bears were finished! (Close

    Slideshow. Each member was to bring in and work on one UFO
    that was laying around the house. We also had the option of making
    orphan blocks from our scraps to be used for charity quilts.

 2018 December 2018 Holiday
    Luncheon.December
    Slideshow. First we viewed and voted
    on our 2018 Challenge Entries. This year our Challenge was led
    by River Queen Bee and the theme was "SML Barn Quilts to
    Quilts." After voting we sat down to a delicious catered
    lunch. Carol Haynes from the Franklin County Extension Service
    (The Barn Quilt Trail) joined us and introduced our Challenge
    Show & Tell. The winners were presented with prizes and ribbons.
    Next on the agenda was the installation of new officers for 2019.
    At the close of the luncheon, President Mary Hamlin presented
    gifts to the officers and chairpersons who served her in 2018.

 November 2018 General
    Meeting.Our November meeting was our
    Annual Business Meeting. We discussed and voted on updates and
    revisions to our By-Laws. Erich Faber spoke to us about the differences
    between a 501c7 and a 501c3 tax status. The Guild voted to remain
    a 501c7 Charity. We also voted on next year's officers. New officers
    will be posted on the Guild page in January. There was no Show
    & Tell or Bee Display. There is no slideshow this
    month.

    Meeting.October
    Slideshow. Our guest speaker was Joyce Hughes. Joyce is an
    award-winning quilter, designer, fiber artist and national speaker
    who specializes in thread painting and free-motion quilting.
    During our program Joyce told us how she began quilting and how
    it led her to thread painting and using panels to create art
    quilts. Joyce taught an all-day Monday Workshop on raw edge applique,
    dimension thread painting and embellishment. The program was
    followed by Show & Tell and the featured Bee of the Month

    Eight LQG members led 8 Round Robin learning stations. Attending
    members received patterns and instructions for each station and
    an additional 6 bonus patterns. The program was followed by Show

    Slideshow. Cathy Bogan, owner of Stitch Party Studio in Madison,
    NC, was our guest speaker. Cathy presented a trunk show of the
    quilts she has made over the years, many of which are award winning
    quilts. Cathy also taught an all-day
    workshop on Monday entitled "Jelly Roll Race."

    Slideshow. At our 1pm program, Shannon Shirley presented
    an "Eclectic Mix" Trunk show. Shannon showed examples
    of all the styles of quilts she makes... traditional and art
    quilts, quilts inspired by children's artwork, and quilts incorporating
    vintage needlework. Shannon also
    taught an all-day workshop on Monday entitled "Bottles
    and Blooms." The program was followed by Show & Tell

    Bargain Barn Fabrics in Montvale, VA. Marietta She spoke on "Accessorizing
    Your Quilts." She showed us how to dress up our bed quilts
    by using coordinating pillows and shams. She also showed us sample
    pieces from classes offered by Bargain Barn Fabrics. Cecily-Sue
    Roth taught an all-day workshop on Monday entitled "Simple
    Steps to Beautiful Rag Quilts." The program was followed
    by Show & Tell and the featured Bee of the Month was Southside

    Slideshow. Our guest speaker was Paula Golden. She taught
    an all day workshop on Monday entitled "Binding Basics"
    and on Tuesday provided us with a trunk show lecture entitled
    "How to Make your Quilts Sing." Our quilts will be
    more vibrant if we remember to use lights, darks, and shading
    in each quilt. We also announced the quilt show winners and awarded
    prizes to the winning quilt makers and our volunteers. All this

    Slideshow. Our guest speaker was Gyleen Fitzgerald whose
    presentation was "Quilts: Unfinished Stories with New Endings."
    Gyleen showed 1930's through 1950's unfinished tops and blocks
    that she transformed into finished quilts using fabrics of today.
    On Monday Gyleen lead a workshop entitled "Going In Circles."

    showed us the many quilt block variations that can be created

    Slideshow. Sandy Miller presented us with a trunk show of
    the many quilts she has made over the past few years. Sandy is
    a guild member and also works in the Quilting Department at the
    General Store. Sandy especially enjoys making the Judy Niemeyer
    paper pieced patterns because they are so precise. The program

    Slideshow. Linda Hahn of Frog Hollow Designs led an all-day
    Monday Workshop - "Rock that Block, Juicy Lucy" and
    a half-day Tuesday Workshop- "Welcome to Our Pad."
    At our Tuesday Program she showed us her New York Beauty Quilts,
    Simplified and Diversified. The program was followed
