TAVA MaskParade: This is a virtual exhibit created by members of Textile Artists of Virginia (TAVA).The individual face masks and their respective garden settings were designed to suit the personality and preference of each artist. July 6-August 21. The Bower Center for the Arts in Bedford presents "Call for Artists" for their 2nd Biennial Fiber Arts National Juried Exhibition. This exhibition is open to all artists over the age of 18 and includes all forms of fiber art: functional, wearable, and fine art, original in concept and design. It must not have been created in a class/workshop, or from a kit, or been in a previous juried exhibit at Bower Center. Deadline to enter is May 19, 2021. You may enter online at

July 10. Mini Mid-Modern Quilts by David Owen Hastings from Sequim, WA. Live stream 3-hour workshop via zoom 12pm-3pm EST, Saturday, July 10. Offered by The Quilting Party & TAVA. The Workshop will start with a simple, modern color palette of neutral fabrics with a flash of color. Clean lines combined with simple design give each tiny composition a sophisticated feeling. This is a great project for using small scraps and bits of special fabric. David is a modern quilter, graphic designer, print and textile artist, and was the 2020 President of the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild. August 26-28. The Rockbridge Pieceworkers Quilt Guild (RPQG) presents "Quilts in the Country 2021," a judged quilt show to be held in conjunction with the Rockbridge Regional Fair. The exhibit will be in the Glasgow Baptist Church, 805 10th St, Glasgow, VA 24555. Quilt Show hours are 4pm - 8pm Thursday and Friday, 2pm - 5pm Saturday. For more information visit

October 10. Bonnie Hunter workshop: "Jared Takes A Wife." Bonnie K. Hunter is passionate about quilt quilting, focusing mainly on scrap quilts with the simple feeling of "making do." The original quilt was made as a wedding gift using the traditional "Blackford's Beauty" block. Bonnie made it again in Greens, Golds and Purples and kept it for herself! $80 (non-members), $70 (members TQP & FQG). This 6-hour workshop starts at 9:30 am. *October 28-31. This year LQG Retreat will be held at the Skelton 4-H Center Thursday-Sunday, October 28-31. There will be Prizes (including a wheeled cart filled with fabric and goodies), How-to Demonstrations, Movie Nights, CS Threadz, and Fun Interludes. Porters will be available to unload and load cars. 2022 Events

April 28 - May 1. The Virginia Consortium of Quilters 4 day "Celebration of Quilting" retreat with national teachers will be held at SML 4-H Center. The organization is open to everyone interested in quilting, and members come from surrounding states as well as Virginia. Visit for more information.
