Janie Lawless Reports on the VCQ Celebration 2006 at the 4-H Center

From Janie Lawless...

Last weekend The Virginia Consortium of Quilters held a quilt Celebration at the 4-H Center. This is held every other year. There were about 140 attendees and ten instructors. It was an absolutely wonderful experience that ran from Thursday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. The quality of the teaching staff was excellent. The classes and the camaraderie were great. Three vendors set up shop so there was always something to look at and buy if you weren't checking out the silent auction, looking at the block lotto set up or wearable art display. An excellent program was provided each evening with door prizes and lots of other raffles (block lotto, fat quarters, etc.). People came from Colorado, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Only five people attended from the Lake area. Lucy Ricardo, Kate Holdgreve, Cindy Stachelski, Heidi Callaway, and (me) Janie Lawless. We really should promote this event as we live so close and many of our guild members would really enjoy attending. It is just wonderful that such a quality event is held right in our own backyard! The Virginia Consortium of Quilters has a website at www.vcq.org where you can learn about this organization. The next Celebration will be held in 2008 and it will be at the 4-H Center once again.
