Quilt in a Year 2008 -  Flowers of Virginia

Chair: Susan Palmer (click to email)
Each month a block representing a Virginia flower was taught. Several different techniques were used; such as, traditional piecing, paper piecing, appliqué and ribbon embroidery. Blocks of various sizes were created and at the end of the year the class learned sashing methods to bring them all together into a finished wall-hanging. Some of the finished quilts are shown below.

At left is the "Instructors' Quilt." Each instructor made a finished block for their presentation. At the end of the year the blocks were joined to make a wall-hanging. The wall-hanging was quilted by Cindy Clark. This quilt was raffled "in house" and the winner was announced at the June 2009 general meeting.
