The THIMBLEBERRIES Guide for Weekend Quilters: 25 Great Looking Quilts for the Busy Quiltmaker by Lynette Jenson |
|
This book is in memory of Barbara Harkness. If, when you think of "Thimbleberries", you think of rich, warm colors; elegant quilts, yet whimsical and homespun; and projects that are stunning, yet quick and simple to make and assemble, then this THIMBLEBERRIES book will not disappoint you. Each of the projects in this book is all of the above and then some! Most of the projects are made up of large pieced blocks, but there are also a few which include appliqué. It would be hard to pick a favorite in this book! But Jensen's ultimate goal is not just to offer us beautiful projects to make, but also to help us find time to make them. To assist us with this, most of the quilts in this book fall into one of two categories; "Make It Tonight" (3-4 hours), or "Make it in a Weekend" (6-12 hours). She also includes some helpful hints on finding more quilting time during our busy days. And, to help us make the very most of our sewing time and creativity, as a bonus, Jensen has also included a few additional projects which she calls "House Dressing." These are smaller sewing (and some craft) projects which coordinate with the quilt featured on the same page. For each quilt and project in the book all of the fabric requirements are included, and the sewing instructions and diagrams are easy to understand. Likewise, full-sized patterns are included for the appliqué. This book is just full to bulging with wonderful projects to make and admire. It warms you up just paging through the book and gazing at them. Which is, I believe, another on of Jensen's ploys to get you to sew them up! (It's working on me!). |
